50th Anniversary

Fifty years ago on a special summer day Rev A. L. Kight and the former Frances G. Weaver were united in marriage Aug 14, 1959, in Amelia, Texas. The Jesus church congregation, their children Rev and Mrs. Greg Gerald and grandchildren, Brandon Shandolyn and Katelyn, honored their pastor and parents with a Fifth Wedding anniversary reception at Colony Creek Country Club on Aug 15, 2009.

The couple were first greeted with a surprise ride in a Chrysler 300 Limousine that there children were in upon arrival, at the couples home! Then the Limousine took them on a scenic route for 30 minutes as the family shared memories of times past! They then arrived with well wishers who cheered and threw rose petals! Everything was decorated so lovely with, colors mauve, burgundy, blue, gold and crème. The catered meal was so beautifully prepared and delicious.

Their daughter, Machel Gerald wrote a story in poem form, reminiscing the life of her parents. The poem began with their first date, the proposal to the wedding day. Then came the excitement of a daughter, then a son, Timothy Shawn born seven years apart. The love they have shown while pastoring The Jesus Church for forty years, and during that time the excitement of grand children being born, was also shared in the poem.

The song "The Rest of Mine" was played and dedicated by their grandson Brandon. The song "Look At Us" was also played while cutting the cake, and sharing a special moment, as tears flowed from the groom's eyes. There were special out of town guests of family and ministerial friends, who spoke to honor the couple. As the celebration was coming to close the couple was presented with a honeymoon trip to a destination of their choice, by their church family along with many other gifts from family and friends.
