Construction update: School work on schedule

Victoria West High School had its gym ceilings and walls painted this week.

Construction continues for Victoria school district two new high schools and new middle schools.

The three schools are set to open next August.

Victoria West and middle school

Completed installation of brick on high roof wall east side between areas D and C

Plumbing, and HVAC work ongoing at the high school

Starting split-faced CMU at radius wall at north and south entry, completed walls of area D restrooms, started servery CMU wall

Painted gym ceilings and walls, primed door frames area at high school

Completed squandrel beams in area E of the high school

Installed gravel on the auditorium roof. 95 percent complete

Continued fire sprinkler mains in areas C and D of the high school

Started installing aluminum windows in areas A and C. Is 75 percent complete

Roof drain piping on the third floor is 50 percent complete

Third floor drywall framing. 60 percent complete

Started installing duct straps and hangers in area E of high school auditorium

Installed dens glass at exterior walls of areas B and D. 95 percent complete

Installed steel for CPR No. 71 at entry doors for canopy supports

Continued plumbing and duct insulation for first and second floor areas A and B of the middle school

Continued framing plaster ceilings in the middle school dressing rooms and porches

Continued sheet rock and tape/float on the first and second floor of areas A and B of the middle school

Started pulling wire to all areas of the middle school

Plumbing top out area B 100 percent on the first and second floor. Area A is 98 percent complete of the middle school

Completed gravel on area A and B and 90 percent of area C of the middle school

Continued sidewalks in area D of the middle school

Victoria East High School

Started painting the walls and placing the windows of area H

Began installing conduit/boxes, and the exterior metal frame wall west of area G

Completed the structural steel detailing of area G

Completed the metal framing and exterior brick of columns at the entry of area F

Began work on frame/sheath at clear story of area A, B, C and D on first, second and third floors

Began work on frame/sheath of exterior walls C, D on third floor to parapet

Completed the repair light pole bases
