A headless alligator that had been hit by a motorist on a remote county road in Inez Sunday was still along the side of the road, Friday night.

Joyce Warzecha, who lives near the dead alligator, said it was still there and was beginning to gather flies.

"It's still there," she said. "We have not had the odor that I anticipated."

People were still traveling down the road Friday just to catch a glimpse of the eight-foot alligator, she said.

She still plans to have her grandchildren home for Easter despite the road kill near her home, she said.
