The 2010 Fur Ball charity dinner benefiting the Dorothy H. O'Connor Pet Adoption Center is Friday at the Leo J. Welder Center for Performing Arts.

Located on Main Street in downtown Victoria, the center will feature an evening of fine food from Pappas Brothers of Houston and a wide array of entertainment - from professional animal trainers to a pet fashion show.

Live music is provided by The Grooves of Austin. A silent auction is also planned.

The O'Connor Pet Adoption Center, established in October 2007, is dedicated in memory of Dorothy Hanna O'Connor. O'Connor was born in 1907 and later established Victoria's first community animal rescue center in 1963. She died in 1992.

The center rescued and found homes for more than 1,600 pets. It offers adoptions, pet identification cards, microchipping services and community education programs.
