• So the current emergency center is too close to the hazardous material route? Where was the concern when local officials built 3 new schools along the designated hazardous material route? I guess that doesn't matter.

How does the spending of all this money benefit the average citizen in Victoria? I can think of only one way ..... The next time a "Mandatory Evacuation" is ordered ... and you are somewhere on Highway 87, in bumper-to-bumper traffic, with a car full of kids and pets, looking for a gas station ... you can set your mind at ease and worry not about your government official who will be safe, secure and comfortable back in their 14,000 sq.ft, $1.5 million refuge.

The location of this center is one floor below where you go to pay your property taxes and car taxes. The next time you are there to 'pay up', ask if you can go down to take a tour to see what your money is buying. You will probably get the line that the Advocate uses, "This money came from a grant." Well, no matter how the shell game is played ... All of the money comes from one source ... you, the taxpayer.

This is a classic example of government spending merely for the benefit of more government. It is disgusting.
