Victoria Dog Obedience Club

"Man's best friend is an obedient dog" is the mantra of the Victoria Dog Obedience Club. Its fundraising efforts, including Pets with Santa photos each December, benefit Adopt-a-Pet, Dorothy O'Connor Pet Adoption Center, Pets Are Worth Saving and the City of Victoria/Victoria County animal control, among others. The club maintains the goals of the American Kennel Club. Members of the dog-loving public are welcome to join.

HISTORY:

Organization formed in 1981.

AREAS SERVED:

Victoria and the surrounding area

SERVICES PROVIDED:

Semi-annual eight-week obedience training classes

AKC Canine Good Citizenship testing

Annual Obedience Trial

Education of proper care and maintenance for dog owners

Attend events to support and raise funds for local animal shelters

NUMBER OF PEOPLE SERVED ANNUALLY:

Hundreds through services provided

ANNUAL BUDGET: $11,000

GREATEST NEEDS:

Financial donations and organization members.
