Ranging Reporter Erica Rodriguez was in Victoria Monday talking with residents about their thoughts. Here's what they had to say:

A: "I would be the first to agree that the public should not have access to every call that goes out on a police scanner."

- David Walton, Mathis resident, retired volunteer firefighter

A: "I don't think it's bad for anybody to hear. It's not bad for us to hear what's going on in the world."

- Rebecca Rendon, Victoria resident, unemployed

A: "No. That is one thing, when they're doing raids, the people they're going after can get advanced notice of it."

- Bill Ellis, Victoria resident, maintenance materials supervisor

A: "No, because sometimes the less the public knows the better. Sometimes the last thing you need is for citizens interfering in police business."

- Patricia Matthews, Victoria resident, warehouseman
