A 1980 Chevy Malibu caught fire on Wednesday afternoon at 1503 Crockett St. in Victoria. The car's owner, Jesse Castillo, 18, and investigators said they don't know what caused the fire.

Details of what caused a Wednesday afternoon car fire are still unknown.

At 2:23 p.m., firefighters responded to the 1500 block of Crockett Street, where they found in a driveway a 1980 Chevrolet Malibu engulfed in flames.

18-year-old Jesse Castillo, the vehicle's owner, said he worked on the car 45 minutes before the fire.

After working on the car, Castillo said he left in another vehicle to pick his grandfather up from work.

That is when he received the call about the fire.

"There was no smoke, no nothing when I left," he said.

Victoria Fire department Investigator Mark Flathouse said the cause of the fire is undetermined and still under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
