GOLIAD - The U.S. Navy on Thursday submitted a formal offer to buy the Goliad County Airpark.
The admiral of the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi contacted Goliad County Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez to announce the offer.
"Part of the procedure is making an offer and that's where we're at today," said Bob Torres, a Navy spokesman.
Rodriguez said he requested a copy of the offer to present to the county judge and commissioners. As of Thursday night the the offer had not yet been place on the courts' agenda.
Commissioners in March voted 3-2 against selling the airpark to the Navy, which hopes to use runways to train pilots.
The offer does not indicate the county will reconsider selling to the Navy.
