A bovine in boxers possible at CASA event

WHAT IS CASA?

Golden Crescent Court Appointed Special Advocates provides volunteers to become the voice

for abused and neglected children in the court system. Counties served include Calhoun, Colorado, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca, Refugio and Victoria.

Ever seen a bovine in boxers?

You can Saturday at the Brackenridge Park arena in Edna at the ranch rodeo that benefits Golden Crescent Court Appointed Special Advocates.

Part of the night's activities include a ladies' calf decorating contest in which women catch a calf and dress it up in the timed event.

The ranch rodeo competition is for activities that occur on a working ranch. These can include calf branding, double mugging, steer yoking, steer doctoring, wild cow milking and team penning.

The event begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free and concessions will be available.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, CASA will benefit from a wine extravaganza and silent auction at Greenwade Saloon, 1701 Farm-to-Market Road 2761 in Cat Springs, near Sealy.

The wines will be presented by Alexander Valley Vineyard. Tickets are $60.
