CUERO - Filmmaker Erik McCowan is looking for some assistance from the turkey-loving public.
McCowan, who produced the award-winning documentary Ruby's Town in 2007 about the history of the Cuero Turkeyfest, is in search of a television commercial that was filmed during the event in 1976.
The Lone Star Beer commercial, filmed in downtown Cuero, features Ruby Begonia, members of the race teams from Cuero and Worthington, Minn. as well as a street dance, McCowan said.
The commercial ends with, "The Great Gobbler Gallop and Lone Star Beer, only in Texas," said McCowan.
"I know someone has this jewel somewhere. Someone that may have been in it," he said. "I'd like to archive this, put it on the Internet, and feature it at this year's Turkeyfest."
If you have a copy of the commercial or know someone who does, contact McCowan at 512-332-6905 or erikmccowan@yahoo.com.

I remember that commercial when I was a kid, along with the Lone Star beer commercial that featured a Lone Star beer truck torn open by a giant armadillo that wanted the beer! Have you tried contacting Lone Star beer? Surely they would have that on file.
