  • pilot, I think the point whathesaid is trying to make is that although there are many people involved in landing a project of this magnitude, they are almost always confined by confidentiality agreements from discussing the project except with company officials or others who are under the same non-disclosure agreements.

Unless you were a part of the negotiations of this project, it is unlikely you, or anyone else for that matter, would be privy to any information about this company looking at Victoria. This is common practice.

Go online and look up non-disclosure agreements and you will see that violation of such an agreement kicks you out of the running. They expect you to keep your lips zipped and it looks like Victoria’s officials were able to do exactly that.

As far as hoping the “rank and file of Victoria and the surrounding counties” are going to be able to realize a fair share of the windfall that comes – well, of course they will. Where exactly do you think the 500+ employees are going to come from anyway?

  • pilot, how about I say this in print, I was standing next to the mayor when Jim Dugan said that the reason they chose Victoria was because of the professionalism shown by the staff of the city and the Victoria Economic Development Corp.

Just because it's the first time YOU'VE heard anything about it, doesn't mean it's the first time ANYONE has heard anything about it. And you're right, the decision wasn't just made out of the was made after MONTHS AND MONTHS of work and negotiation between the company and the city of Victoria and VEDC.

Nobody is scratching their heads over this announcement.....except you.
