  • An empty gesture, indeed.

  • This whole thing is a big joke! Like $1000.00 is going to make a difference. Stop spending our taxpayers money on crap like the FBO - GET REAL!!!! How many times do you use it or even go in there.............

  • I am against the flat rate ($1000.00) reduction in salary. It is not fair to the people (Constables) on the bottom end of the pay scale. A % of salary would be a better idea. I called my Commissioner (Burns) to vent my feelings..He is also against the flat rate method but was voted down...Call your Commissioner and ask why he is in favor of the flat rate..Then post a comment on their answer...The rich get richer......

  • Could it have been handled differently and possibly more equitably? Yes.
Is it a nice gesture in a time of straitened finances? Yes.

  • I want to know if anyone knows how much these elected officials are getting paid. Is that $1,000 pay cut monthly or annually? If you make $50,000 a year minus $1,000 is not much of a cut. That comes out to $83.33 per month. But when you make $50,000 a year that is not that much. crunch the numbers and see for yourself.

  • Just have to laugh at this one too! $30,000 is lk a slap in the face. That's like giving a peppermint and saying you helped end world hunger! Please!!

  • BSspotter--

Kinda like an ante for a poker game. Everyone put in a grand. We'll see who wins the pot, right?

Each District Judge could have sacrificed 2 grand and they could have spared the poorly paid constables, who it seems make about 25% of what a judge makes.

  • Since several commissioners work two full time jobs I know this is painful.

How about axing the county heirtage department started by Walker to pay back a friend and put him on the payroll. ThAT'S $90,000.OO PLUS

  • These should be percentage-based cuts. Great idea, bad execution.

  • Great move by Commissioner's Court. These folks are probably the least affected by this decision.

  • What a sham how about going after the city and county supervisors. There are a lot of chiefs in this category. How about starting with less paid holidays, seems the city and the county take every holiday on the calender off and with pay to boot. Just putting my 2 cents worth and oh yea the non elected city officials who come up with the idea of cutting other peoples wages and not theirs.
