Cuero chamber plans second Texas hold'em fundraiser

CUERO - The Cuero Chamber of Commerce is busy making plans for the second Cuero Chamber of Commerce Texas Hold'em Fundraiser set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cuero Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall.

Registration forms for the main event are available now at the chamber office for $100 per seat. It is limited to the first 200 paid participants.

Those who don't play, can watch. Spectator tickets for $25, which includes the meal and all the activities, excluding the main event, are available at the chamber office.

A Wine Run has been added to this year's format. Guests will be shuttled to local participating businesses to sample Texas wines at shops filled with items unique to Cuero.

Shuttle buses will bring participants back to the VFW to take part in the Texas Hold'em Fundraiser events. Tickets are $50 each, which includes the meal and all the activities, excluding the main event, and are available at the chamber office.

Wine participants will get a wine glass and shopping bag with this year's logo and a listing of wine run participants for all those wine samplings and shopping stops. Participants will also have a chance to win a gift basket valued at $350 filled with items donated by Wine Run participating businesses.

This years' event is also offering a poker run in the morning, organized by Victoria Harley-Davidson. Prizes will be donated by Hartman Distributors and Victoria Harley-Davidson. For more information, call the Victoria Harley Davidson office at 361- 575-7881.

At the VFW Hall, silent auction items will be out for viewing and bidding. Auctioneer Joe Adams lead the bidding of live auction items.

Professional dealers and table games, such as blackjack, roulette and craps will be at every corner of the hall and will round out the casino events.

Raffle items of five guns will be on display for the gun raffle. Chances will be sold at the event.

Thousands of dollars in cash value prizes will be awarded to the top 10 winners. The first place winner will receive $2,500 in cash-value prizes and will take home a one-of-a-kind hand-crafted bracelet engraved with the World Series of Cuero logo. Second place winner will receive $1,500 in cash-value prizes plus a hand-crafted belt buckle designed with the World Series of Cuero logo.

All proceeds from the fundraiser go to benefit Cuero Chamber of Commerce.
