HONOLULU (AP) - Gov. Linda Lingle is calling on supporters of the Waipio Little League baseball team to help cover the travel expenses of player families.

Lingle noted player families have each reportedly spent more than $10,000 for weeks of travel, lodging and meals as the team made its way through the initial rounds of the Little League World Series.

The team and their families have been traveling since Aug. 4.

Tax deductible donations may be sent to the Hawaii Children's Foundation, in care of Clear Channel Communications. All contributions will go to the Waipio team.

Checks should indicate the donation is for the Waipio All-Stars Little League Team.

Lingle says she's encouraging those who can to show their aloha to the team through a monetary contribution.
