This season at Overtime Theater in San Antonio, the venue is switching things up. Rather than going the traditional route of having several performances of one play, the theater will be showing a stage sitcom that will have six episodes starting in January and ending in June.

"The Adventures of Captain Cortez and the Tri-Lambda Brigade" is a sci-fi comedy set in the future, according to the theater's website. Written by Scott McDowell, the premise of the comedy is a race for an ancient alien artifact that everyone, it seems, is after, and it's up to Cpt. Cortez and his daring space marines to keep it out of the wrong hands.

The serialized space comedy will have six episodes, with a new one produced on the last weekend of each month from January to June.

The first installment will play at 10 p.m., Jan. 28-29 at the Overtime Theater. General admission is $12 per person and $9 for teachers, students with current ID and seniors aged 65 and over. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 210-557-7562 or go to www.theovertimetheater.net.
