A trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety seized $75,000 worth of marijuana during a traffic stop on Tuesday morning.
About 9:26 a.m., a trooper spotted a white 2004 Chevrolet truck traveling north on U.S. Highway 59 just north of U.S. Highway 87.
The trooper pulled the driver over on suspicion of following too closely.
While talking with the driver, who was identified as 48-year-old Edinburg resident Ramiro Quintero, the trooper noticed several indicators of criminal activity, said DPS Trooper and Public Information Officer Gerald Bryant.
Quintero consented to a search of the vehicle.
During the search, the trooper discovered 38 bundles of marijuana, about 179.8 pounds with a street value of $75,000, according to Bryant.
Quintero was arrested on suspicion of second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance.
He is in custody at the Victoria County Jail.
