A fundraiser to help save the Yorktown Memorial Hospital will be held Saturday on the hospitla grounds.

A "Save the Yorktown Hospital" fundraiser will be at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11 on the hospital grounds, 728 W. Main St.

Angry Otter Productions, which is filming its first feature film "Yorktown" at the hospital, is hosting the event.

The trailer for the movie will debut before a classic horror film that will be shown on an outside screen at 8 p.m. The first 100 people will get a "Yorktown" movie poster.

"Yorktown" is a '70s style slasher/horror film that takes place in Yorktown. It's about a group of friends who, upon hearing of Yorktown Memorial Hospital, decide to take a road trip to the haunted location and "investigate."

What they don't realize is that someone has taken up residence in the building and begins to kill them off one-by-one while they are exploring.

Filming is expected to take place Feb. 4 through 18. The movie is slated to premiere at the Santikos Paladium Theater in San Antonio on May 11, 2011, be in several film festivals and distributed by Fall 2011 on DVD.

Donations for the fundraiser are $5 at the gate. A $20 donation from guests 21 or older gets an armband for beer while supplies last.

Other items such as baked goods and popcorn will be on sale for $1. There will also be a raffle of a 3-D cake of the hospital for $5 per ticket.

Proceeds will be used to assist film production and to help the hospital owner make some of the repairs needed to re-open the hospital.
