  • WHO IS THOMAS YANTIS?Has worked as a volunteer and staffer in nonprofits his entire life.

Was team leader at two Keep Victoria Beautiful Neighborhood cleanups.

A graduate of Texas A&M University and has a background in business management.

Is married to wife, Monica Yantis, and has a daughter, Sofia.

The executive director of Keep Victoria Beautiful has resigned to take on another executive director position in Port Lavaca.

Joni Brown, who has been with the organization for two and a half years, will be the executive director of the Contractor Safety Council of the Texas Mid-Coast in Port Lavaca.

Thomas Yantis, who has worked on several projects with the Keep Victoria Beautiful, will serve as interim executive director of the nonprofit effective Dec. 15.

"I had the opportunity to take a position with an organization to serve in a regional capacity," Brown said. "It's been wonderful serving the community in this capacity."

Brown is excited for herself as well as the future of Keep Victoria Beautiful, she said.

She will be coaching Yantis until he's able to lead the organization on his own. She anticipates Yantis will be named the official executive director.

"I just think new leadership and fresh ideas are very good for an organization," she added.

Yantis said he is ready to bring new ideas to the table, and he is still working on the strategic planning process with the organization's board.

"I see some great things for this organization," Yantis said. "Joni has definitely paved the way."
