YOAKUM - The children stood open-mouthed admiring the lights and glimmering displays as they toured the 23rd annual Yoakum Heritage Museum's Christmas Tree Forest.
The 3- and 4-year-olds from Happy Hearts/Mother's Day Out of the First United Methodist Church of Yoakum laughed, pointed, giggled and sometimes touched things they weren't supposed to touch as Rhonda Liles, a volunteer at the museum, guided them through the museum.
More than 68 trees are on display in the museum with the theme Santa Comes to Yoakum. Every room of the two-story museum is filled with trees decorated by local businesses, organizations, clubs and individuals.
An open house will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the museum, 312 Simpson St. A special raffle will be held and refreshments will be served. There is no charge for admission.
The Christmas Tree Forest will be on display through Jan. 7. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
