Officers with the Victoria Police Department responded to reports of a possible bomb on the train tracks at Main Street and Airline Drive.
Victoria Police, ATF and Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the call about the suspicious object late Saturday afternoon. A white piece of PVC pipe, with wires coming out of it was found on the tracks. It was concluded the object was not a bomb.
Officers closed the roads around the immediate area, including Airline Drive and Main Street, and Hiller and Main Street. The Exxon station on the corner of Airline and Main Street and some of the nearby houses were evacuated.
TxDOT Rail Safety Investigator Eric Ross said the object turned out to be a shunt device. The device was once connected to the railroad's crossing arms system.
