Down Syndrome League hosting New Year's Eve dance featuring Southern Rose

Southern Rose will be playing a New Year's Eve dance at Club Westerner benefiting the Down Syndrome League of Victoria.

A New Year's Eve dance, sponsored by the Down Syndrome League of Victoria, will be on Dec. 31 at Club Westerner.

Southern Rose will provide the music from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The band plays top 20 favorites, including country, Texas country with a little rock 'n' roll mixed in.

The night will also include a silent auction.

The Down Syndrome League of Victoria, an affiliate of the National Down Syndrome Society, was formed in May 2009 by families of children with down syndrome who recognized the need for support and resources in Victoria and surrounding counties.

Advance tickets for $10 are available at Club Westerner, 1005 W. Constitution St.; Classy Linens & Décor, 1301 N. Navarro, Suite B; High-Brehm Hats & Western Wear, 6603 N. Navarro St.; and Calhoun Home Health, 135 Commerce St., Port Lavaca.

Tickets are $15 at the door the night of the dance.
