Tron merchandise coming to a store (and website) near you
The buzz surrounding the new movie "Tron: Legacy" has been building ever since a sequel to the 1982 original was announced. Naturally, with this much hype, there is bound to be endless amounts of merchandise. Just in time for your Christmas shopping needs, Tron-inspired toys, gear and games are hitting the market.
For you gamers, Tron game controllers for the Xbox, Wii and PS3 are now available, ranging from $49 to $79 on Amazon.com. That should come in handy to play the new "Tron: Evolution" video game (rated T for Teen), which is $59 for Xbox 360 and PS3 ($129 for collector's editions, which include movie tickets and a collectible illuminated light cycle model), $49 for Wii, $29 for Games for Windows Live and $39 for Nintendo DS and PSP.
For the kids (and the young at heart) there is the Tron Deluxe Light Cycle, $19.99 on Amazon.com. There's also a never-ending array of action figures and other collectibles available.
You can wear your love of all things "Tron" on your chest with "My Other Ride is a Light Cycle" glow-in-the-dark T-shirts and hoodies from Threadless.com, $12-$30.
Even Oakley is getting in on the action with their Tron-inspired hardshell backpack ($925 at www.Oakley.com) and Tron 3-D sunglasses ($150 at www.Oakley.com).
For the lady in your life, (or for the lady who wants to treat herself), there is Tron-inspired jewelry from TomTom Jewelry, ranging in price from $225 to $495 at www.tomtomjewelry.com.
Ladies might also love the limited-edition, five-inch, high-heeled platform sandal by designer Jerome C. Rousseau that was inspired by Quorra, the female warrior character from the upcoming film "Tron: Legacy." Costing $795, the shoe will be exclusively sold at the Tron Pop-Up Shop in L.A. but never fear, since the shoe will expand to other retailers in 2011.
