The Victoria Fire Department responded to a gas leak at 4406 North Laurent St. at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday.

A contractor working in the area cut into the gas line with a piece of machinery, said Battalion Chief Shannon Martin.

The department shut off entry into the area while the gas company shut off the line.

No one was injured.
