FISHERS, Ind. (AP) - Michelle Obama has honored an Indiana living history museum at a White House ceremony.

The first lady presented the 2010 National Medal for Museum and Library Service to five libraries and five museums from across the nation on Friday.

The Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Fishers north of Indianapolis is among the recipients

Obama credited Conner Prairie for providing hands-on history lessons - from prairie living in the early 1800s to fugitive slaves risking their lives for freedom.

Winners are chosen based on their innovative approaches to public service and improving communities.
