• Nice idea of planting trees in front of the lights downtown...

  • I went downtown Tuesday. I have to admit the curb extension things where a distraction, probably because no cars where parked on the roadway.

It seems to me that the curb extensions have eliminated quite a few on street parking places in a area where parking is at a premium.

BTW, I did not have to walk on any of the sidewalks, I parked in the City Hall parking lot to go the City Secretary s office, and parked in the Tax Office parking lot.

That likely takes care of my downtown business until next year.

I think allot of folks here in town are fed up with all of the negativity! The side walks downtown look fantastic! But as you put it "someones nightmare" The certainly are not....If I was a betting man I would put my money on the fact that you are a grumpy senior with limited to no vision that shouldn't be behind the wheel of anything let alone a moving automobile! "Those curbs there sonny are in my nightmares young whipper snapper putting them out on the middle of the road just to make my life more difficult....."

  • a great example of your tax dollars at work. everything seems to be beautifully designed so far, can't wait to see the finished product.

  • The downtown area isn't the only place that needs a sidewalk project. Some areas of town just need sidewalks, period. We could keep the landscaping people busy too.

  • They ought to build sidewalks in Katy for all the UH-Victoria in point!

  • I also have a question???
Why do the curbs stick out into main street? It certainly cuts down on parking and it looks odd.

  • A waste of our taxes!

    December 23, 2010 at 8:53 a.m.
  • I used to go down town often but not any more. I avoid Main street. The street at the square area is somebodys nightmare. Its just like all the other curbs in Victoria looking for a vehicle to reconstruct. Those curbs sticking out there are an accident waiting to happen.

  • The new sidewalks really look great!
