A houseboat in Matagorda Bay was destroyed by a fire Friday afternoon.

At 12:16 p.m., reports came in that a 20-by-25-foot houseboat, which was anchored near the abandoned Coast Guard station, was on fire, said Petty Officer Michael Griffin. The old station is about three miles from Port O'Connor.

Griffin said the boat, which had no engine, burned down to the water level.

There were no reports of injuries. The Coast Guard did not have the name of the houseboat owner.
