  • Bottom line, Cuero is booming. Try and get into a restaurant during lunch or get a hotel/motel room. It aint happenning folks. Eagle Shale has turned this place into a market my friends. Poke fun, but there is absolutely a reason retail buisnesses, real estate companies, auto dealerships, and the like are doing so well there. They are worthy of a bigger and better HEB to say the least. Do NOT be surprised to see more and more homes being built there and the county population grow exponentially. Cuero is where it's at. Make note.

  • HEB has proven to be a well run business, and the dominant player in south Texas grocery market. With that in mind, I think they'll build a new store in Cuero when the market dictates such. If not, a competitor will move in and challenge them. Such should be the case in a free market.

  • I think HEB has been good to Cuero. Its sad that people insist you build a new HEB or get out of town. Its a sure sign that Cuero needs HEB. HEB doesn't need Cuero.

  • Cuero does need a new HEB. Every time I pass by that thing I'm like "what in the world is that?" Definitely one of the worst HEBs in the state.

  • Really for Cuero to say traffic count is up is a reason for a company like HEB to build a new store? It is a major road going to other towns. People passing through are not going to stop at grocery stores along the way.

  • Except family income is down 8% from 2000 to 2010 in Victoria County while the State of Texas family income is up 9%, right Gabe, according to your last article that you deleted

  • i would like to see the city fathers, try and use new ideas to premote bussines in cuero, like is it possible to poll residents there for a coop store run by the city, a management by itself, but be holding to the city, giveing any and all profits back to the people, meaning the enhancement of services to the people,NEW IDEAS from our city fathers will keep them in office longer if there worth anything at all, the city park idea is wonderful and is talked about all over the world if you want to know, is that not a great endever, keeping the money in cuero is the main thought, the wholesalers will sell to the coop at a low price, after all what company wouldent wouldent want there name on a new inavation by the people, h.e.b. does not control any or all of the sellers, is this to far fetched for me to say , am i being stupid for even suggesting this. you tell me. i love this town and might move there in the futher, when we sell our home in my estimation no city, no person, no govering body should be scard of new ideas even if there are against the norm, any body out there have any ideas on this subject, am i wrong maybe so its not a perfect world, but change is good, and good is what we all strive for

  • Call Rick Perry, didn't he takes credit for the state's economic growth during his campaign?

  • Why don't they try to get Brookshire Bros. to open a store there? They seem to favor smaller towns like Hallettesville Wimberley Natchitoches,La.,etc. HEB isn't the only grocery store chain in the world even if they act like it.
Sounds like the movers/shakers here could learn a few things from those in Cuero.lol

  • Nope, Victoria is the retail hub. Vibrant is another current corp/word you forgot to use.
