  • I have a couple of suggestions to make the college process/experience more efficient and affordable.

    1. Admissions Process - UHV needs to initiate and enforce an application deadline. Currently, students may apply for the Spring 2011 term up to two weeks after the term has started. Most of these students will not attend this term or any future term, but their applications still must be processed. This is a waste of resources.

    2. Textbooks - Isn't it time for electronic textbooks on Kindle? No more cutting down trees, simple updates to books to make corrections... (ever wondered why a textbook cost three times that of any other book?)

I'm sure I can think of more, but right now my breakfast is calling. Happy New Year everyone!

  • Time for the big shots to take a paycut. To many chiefs not enough teachers!

  • Mayor Bill White of Houston, recently lost the governor's race. He was specifically for better and higher education. We are so far behind other countries that Bill Gates had to hire foreign help for lack of qualified applicants here in the USA. Where are our priorities?
