ADVOCATE STAFF REPORT

Victoria firefighters were busy Wednesday morning dealing with two fire calls at the same time.

The first call was to a two-story apartment at 3210-A Oaklawn St.

The fire department arrived about 8:30 a.m. and began fighting the blaze. They were still on the scene an hour later.

Tenants Lupe Garza and David Garza were not there at the time. They had been staying in a motel until the electricity could be turned on at the apartment.

The second fire call came in less than an hour later about a mobile home fire at Holiday Acres Mobile Home Estates at 2701 Leary Lane.

Neighbors reported an explosion and the sound of ammunition going off.
