Hey, music fans,

You may not know this about him, but Elton John's middle name is Hercules.

Why wouldn't he be? He's like a Hercules of music.

John is a legend, one Texas would be proud to see come here, especially to Corpus Christi.

According to the American Bank Center, where he will perform, this is his first time ever to perform in that city.

A man that needs no introduction, at least for me, Elton's one of the greats.

Since the 1970s, he's sung classic hits like "Tiny Dancer," "Your Song," "Little Jeannie," and "Bennie and the Jets."

His "Candle in the Wind," which he sang in memory of Princess Diana, became the highest selling single since Bing Crosby's "White Christmas," selling more than 37 million copies. He was later knighted in 1998.

I'll never forget when he performed - and shocked the world- with homophobe Eminem at the Grammys in 2001.

Hopefully the hug and holding of hands at the end of the performance made a statement of peace. And, Elton's plaid pink suit didn't bug Eminem so much, anymore.

John has been on tour with Billy Joel, the other piano legend, but Joel won't be joining him in Corpus or Austin. John last played in Austin in 1998, and set a box office record at the time, according to the Austin American-Stateman.

  • Hey look peeps, Elton has some good music, period. What does it matter if he has a tank full of sugar? flounder, no need in even wasting your time, unless he has your "Tiny Dancer" in his hand.

  • If I pay 125 a ticket, its my choice to go listen to his music. Do I agree with lifestyle, things he says, etc? NO! I want to hear him sing. Period.

  • I thought this was a joke. I saw the headline and thought it was gonna lead up to some band doing Elton John!!! Thank you so much for letting us know about this. This would make a great birthday present to myself. Can't believe he is coming to those cities.
