FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — The Fort Worth Star-Telegram will reduce its staff by 28 employees and eliminate 17 open jobs.

Publisher Gary Wortel announced the job cuts Wednesday.

A story in Thursday's Star-Telegram said most departments at the paper will be affected by reductions, although advertising sales and editorial will be minimally affected.

Wortel says the newspaper has seen improvement in revenue trends, but the newspaper still needs to reduce expenses going forward.

The Star-Telegram, which is owned by the McClatchy Co., in March 2009 reduced its staff by more than 100.
