Why do you want to serve in this office?I have worked in the DeWitt County Clerk's Office for 25 years, working my way up to the position of chief deputy county clerk. I have enjoyed working with the public over the years and would like to continue by serving as DeWitt County Clerk.

What qualifies you to serve in this position?

With my 25 years' experience, I have the knowledge needed to conduct the daily duties and responsibilities of the County Clerk's Office such as:

Elections

Serving as clerk of the county courts and the commissioner's court

Recording real and personal property records

I have been trained on the Hart electronic voting equipment and have worked with the election process throughout my years in the clerk's office. I attended the election school held for County Clerks and Election Administrators.

What issues facing this office do you feel are the most important and how will you approach them?

I will maintain an open mind to changes that may arise, such as possibly keeping the office open during the lunch hour to better serve the public.

Office Seeking: DeWitt County Clerk

Party Affiliation: Republican

City and County of Residence: Westhoff, DeWitt County

Current Occupation: Rancher

Why do you want to serve in this office? I have been interested and active in national, state, county and city government for many years. When I learned that the position of DeWitt County Clerk would be open in 2010, I made the decision to seek the office, understanding the economy is weak and with the belief that experience and good judgment are and will be extremely important in these tough economic times. I believe that I can manage the office of DeWitt County Clerk efficiently and effectively, giving the taxpayers of DeWitt County an elected official that will manage the office, the records and elections with knowledge and expertise.

What qualifies you to serve in this position? My experience, good judgment and maturity make me uniquely qualified for the office of DeWitt County Clerk. I was the records manager of a major oil company and have more than 38 years experience in records management and exploration. I was an exploration records consultant for seven years. I was active in a professional records society, the Association of Records Managers and Administrators, serving as international co-chairman of the Petroleum Committee. I served in the Marine Corps and fought in Korea, served on the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, am serving my 14th year on the Westhoff ISD board of trustees and am a charter member of the Cuero Education Foundation.

What issues facing this office do you feel are the most important and how will you approach them?

My plans are to improve the services provided by the DeWitt County Clerk's Office and to be certain that clients/users are provided the support and times they require. I will determine the most efficient and cost effective way to provide and improve these services. Additional business/exploration activity will generate income for DeWitt County.

  • It sure sounds to me that Natalie has the experience needed for the job and the old rancher is just bored and looking for something to pad his inflated ego.
