Judy Lucas was named the May Employee of the Month at the University of Houston-Victoria. Lucas is an admissions analyst in the Office of Admissions and Records. She has worked at UHV since 2002. Lucas received a framed certificate and a $50 gift card.
Jeffrey Di Leo, dean of the School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Houston-Victoria, recently had articles published in Inside Higher Ed and the Chronicle of Higher Education. "In praise of tough criticism" came out June 13 in the Chronicle. "August Rank" came out June 21 in Inside Higher Ed.
Patrick J. "Pat" Kennedy, Yoakum Economic Community Development coordinator, attended U.S. Rep. Ruben Hinojosa's Texas Regional Leaders Issues Conference in Washington, D.C. on June 28-30. More than 75 Texas regional leaders throughout Texas 15th District participated in this year's conference.
Siva Somasundaram, a cancer researcher and associate professor of biology at the University of Houston-Victoria, and Roy Foley, a faculty member in the School of Education and Human Development at the university, partnered to present workshops for educators on June 16 and 23. The Inside Cancer workshop used multimedia materials developed by the National Center for Research Resources, part of the National Institutes of Health.
