Bicyclist dies after being struck from behind by vehicle near Six Mile

SIX MILE - A Six Mile man died Monday after a vehicle struck him on his bike while both were traveling south on Farm-to-Market Road 1090 near the Six Mile community.

Henry Allison, who was between 65 and 70 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck from behind by the vehicle, driven by Port Lavaca resident Dana Durham, 46, a Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said Tuesday.

according to a Department of The bicyclist's precise age was not available because no driver's license was found on him, said Trooper Ronald Johnson, who is investigating the accident.

Allison was thrown from his bicycle and into a ditch at 10:33 a.m. near Farm-to-Market Road 3084.

Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 James Duckett pronounced him dead, Johnson said.

It not yet known whether charges are being pursued in the case because of the ongoing investigation.
