In Good Company
Richard Gunasekera, Barba Patton and Roy Foley, University of Houston-Victoria faculty members, are partnering to present two biology workshops for about 60 secondary science teachers on June 15-16 and June 30-July 1. Gunasekera will conduct the workshops, while Patton and Foley will serve as resources for the project. The UHV School of Education and Human Development, in partnership with the Region III Education Service Center's Regional Collaborative for Excellence in Science Teaching and the Teacher Quality Grants program, is sponsoring both workshops.
Hsin-Hui Lin, an assistant professor in the University of Houston-Victoria School of Education and Human Development, recently served as chairwoman of the education track for the Association of Chinese American Professionals annual conference in Sugar Land. Lin recruited professors from other universities to give presentations about getting involved with public schools, Texas teacher requirements and applying for teaching positions.
Ginger Blomstrom, a faculty member in the University of Houston-Victoria School of Nursing, has been invited to serve on the board of directors of Mental Health America of Fort Bend County. Blomstrom's term will expire December 2018.
