Man crashes into neighbor's house
A man backed his car into his neighbor's house in the 600 block of Newhaven Avenue about 1:45 p.m. Thursday.
Scott Henley, 36, said he was walking out his front door when he saw the rear of a Dodge Intrepid coming at him.
He slammed the door, heard a crash and came outside to see his neighbor, who he identified as Julio, had driven through his bushes and crashed into the corner of his garage.
Victoria Police Department Officer Shane Wallace said it appeared the driver had backed up from his driveway, across the street from Henley's, with his door open.
The driver, later identified as Martin Christensen, was taken to Citizens Medical Center, where he was in stable condition, a hospital spokesperson said.
Wallace said Christensen was in his 80s.
The brick corner of Henley's house was damaged, as well as his garage door.
Later Thursday evening, the garage was boarded up with plywood.
"The main thing is that he's OK," Henley said, referring to his neighbor.
Investigating Officer Herschel Buck could not be reached for further details.
