Where are those 25,000 jobs now? As holly1 stated, not only is VISD out of control but so is this local so-called government.

WHERE WILL ALL THIS MONEY COME FROM????? We are broke!!!
Sales tax income is down, jobs are leaving victoria due to high taxes and the school budget is completely out of control. The streets are in horrible shape. Yet our leaders are still spending money on questionable projects and seem to never do any long term planning until the very last minute.

Point in case we are spending MILLIONS on Main street yet Parking issues were never considered. All the money in the world will not magically create new parking unless it is planned for from the start. How will downtown revitalize itself with out parking spaces for all the claimed new business promised to come just because we put in new sidewalks on main street. When will our leaders wake up and see that just throwing money at a problem without a real plan will only end in failure and a HUGE waste of taxpayers money. Downtown will only thrive if there is enough parking and a solid plan with realistic goals. The city and county own a lot of land around the court house, old jail, old tax office and old fire station. Tear all these down and construct a parking garage for all the city and county workers and public spaces for those doing business with the govt or courts. This would free up all the parking around the square and nearby streets that is currently filled by the above, freeing it for use by the public so they can shop,dine and enjoy all the venues that MIGHT relocate to the downtown area.
