If Simons had used the word 'textbook' instead of classic, would that help clarify his meaning?
What this man did is a classic or textbook scenario often seen in a DV situation. Often seen, but not always.
EarlyBird: "If this is classic then "we" as a nation is in serious trouble." You could not be more correct in that statement.
KyleC: "How matter of fact - we talk about relatives of the victims reading insensitive online comments, what about insensitive Police Officers?"
Nothing insensitive about that statement and no need to blow it up into something it wasn't. Sadly this type of domestic violence is occurring at higher and higher rates.
Pretty classic reporting.
Did he mean classic, as in "never to be forgotten" like an instant classic, or as in "we see this all the time"?
I would have written the headline differently, too.
"Man shoots and wounds family before killing self"
At least he didn't commit suicide by police.
He didn't say it was a classic domestic violence call, he said it was a classic domestic violence shooting...which based on what I've seen in the news from other such cases is probably (and unfortunately) an accurate description. There's probably a good chance he said a little more than what the advocate put in this story, so it may be a bit out of context.
In any event I hope the surviving victims pull through this ordeal. What a horrific thing to have to go through.
it's just another day on the job for law enforcement!
thank God the cops weren't shot!
@KyleC...You are absolutely right on that! I had to read that line again to make sure I read it correctly. I never thought shooting 3 Family members and then committing suicide basically was the classic "domestic" call. Geesh! If this is classic then "we" as a nation is in serious trouble.
"It was a pretty classic domestic violence shooting," Simons said.
How matter of fact - we talk about relatives of the victims reading insensitive online comments, what about insensitive Police Officers?
