Saturday

First Baptist Church in Smiley will host a free Southern Gospel and Country Gospel Singing. The event will feature numerous local and out-of-town groups. Bring your guitar or other instrument and share your talent. A pot luck dinner will be at 6 p.m. in the church's fellowship hall prior to the performance. The singing begins at 7 p.m.

A Charismatic Conference and Mass in memory of Mrs. Lucia R. Ornelas will be at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca. Registration will be from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. at St. Jude Hall, across from the church. The conference will begin at 9 a.m. A donation of $5 for the conference will include a continental breakfast; lunch and drink will be an additional $7 per person.
