A car caught on fire Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Navarro Street and Topaz Drive.
A black Mitsubishi Eclipse caught fire while waiting at the traffic light at the intersection of Navarro Street and Topaz Lane, fire department Lt. Greg Najvar said.
The Mitsubishi's driver told Najvar he was unaware the vehicle was on fire until the driver of another car pulled up beside him and alerted him, Najvar said.
The fire appeared to have started in the car's engine and was possibly an electric fire, Najvar said.
Before being taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro via ambulance, the Mitsubishi's driver told Najvar the vehicle had previously experienced an electrical short.
Southbound lanes were shut down for about 10 minutes while fire crews put out the fire.
A male passenger in the Mitsubishi was taken via ambulance to DeTar Hospital Navarro with heat-related injuries, the extent of which are unknown.
