Separate collisions back up Navarro Street traffic

Two separate collisions backed up traffic on Navarro Street between Zac Lentz Parkway and Larkspur Street Thursday evening.
Southbound traffic was stopped at the Navarro and Zac Lentz intersection when a Ford Taurus driven by a 16-year-old girl rear-ended a Chevrolet Impala.
The collision forced the Impala, driven by Erik Benjamin Gomez, 21, to rear-end a Honda Odyssey driven by Melinda Ruiz, 44, police said.
With little damage to her car, Ruiz left the scene of the collision, but was later pulled over by police. Police confirmed she had a license and insurance.
A few minutes earlier, two cars were involved in a similar rear-end collision about 100 feet south of the first wreck, in front of the Victoria Mall.
No citations were issued in either wreck, and all involved refused medical treatment, police said.
