The Nuclear Regulatory Commission accepted an early site permit application for a Victoria County nuclear plant, the commission announced Monday.
Exelon Nuclear Texas Holdings submitted the application, which covers safety and environmental issues for the proposed site, on March 25, according to a a commission news release.
The federal regulatory commission assigned the application docket number 52-042 but docketing does not indicate whether the commission will approve the request.
The commission will next publish a "notice of opportunity" to intervene in the adjudicatory hearing that is part of the process, according to the release.
