While working on his truck recently, Justin Gohlke, 21, of Port Lavaca, took a short break only to step on a rattlesnake upon his return.
The snake was approximately 15 feet from the back door of the Gohlke residence. Gohlke killed the reptile, which was about 3.5-feet long, with a shotgun blast. Gohlke attends Victoria College, majoring in the medical field and spends his summers working for contractors at Formosa.

Good one KyleC...lol!
June 19, 2010 at 3:42 p.m.A shotgun is good medicine. Shoot first, then, just in case, shoot again. One more good snake!

June 19, 2010 at 10:29 a.m.Good job.
I know from personal experience that snake bites are no fun.
June 19, 2010 at 2:05 a.m.Glad this young man had a happy ending. They had a story on news how several people are being bitten, as the snakes are enjoying the hot weather. Glad to see he was able to avoid being bitten and kill it.
