Lavaca grand jury returns indictments

HALLETTSVILLE - The Lavaca County grand jury indicted 12 people on Monday. Indicted were:
Cody A. Bennetsen, 20, of Yoakum, on a charge of aggravated assault in retaliation, first degree, on Dec. 17.
Jesus Alejandro Gallegos, 29, of Hallettsville, on charges of aggravated sexual assault/assault family violence and restriction of airway on April 5.
Johnny Ray Hammer, 30, of Yoakum, on a charge of theft of property on Sept. 29.
Darren Ross Hull, 28, of Waelder, on charges of prohibited substance in a correctional facility and possession of a controlled substance on Dec. 26.
Shane Knochel, 34, of Hallettsville, on a charge of theft of property on Sept. 29.
Hector Lopez, 47, of Yoakum, on a charge of forgery of a financial instrument on April 4.
Gary Wayne Marek, 55, of Shiner, of a charge of driving while intoxicated, third or more, on Dec. 21.
Hershell Meeks, 72, of Shiner, on 28 charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual assault when prohibited to marry, indecency with a child by contact and indecency with a child by exposure between Aug. 1, 2000 and Dec. 6, 2008.
Cassandra Foley Perez, 42, of Yorktown, on a charge of robbery on April 12.
Mark Alan Priest, 47, of Nordheim, on five charges of continuous sexual assault of a young child, sexual assault and indecency with a child by contact between Oct. 1 and April 16.
Jason Eugene Stapleton, 37, of Hallettsville, on a charge of misapplication of fiduciary or financial property of the elderly between June 10, 2006 and Dec. 10.
Davin Jerell Williams, 17 of Yoakum, on three charges of obstruction or retaliation and criminal mischief on March 5.
