Suresh Philip, M.D., 48 died on June 14, 2010. He was born March 22, 1962 in Thottackadu, Kottayam, India. His father and mother (K.U. Philipose and Annie Philipose) were career educators. In 1979, at the young age of 17, Suresh continued his life long pursuit of knowledge when he immigrated to the United States and lived with his uncle, John Philip. Suresh graduated from George Washington University in 1984 with honors in a Bachelor of Science. He then received his M.D. from University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1988. He became Board Certified in Cardiology in 1995.
In 1992, he married the love of his life, Sherly. They had two wonderful sons, Satish and Sanjay. Suresh became a partner in and served on the Board of Directors of the South Texas Medical Clinics. He was also an active member of the St. Thomas CSI Church.
Dr. Philip is survived by his wife Sherly, his sons Satish and Sanjay, his parents Annie and K.U. Philipose, his brothers, their spouses and children; Sugu, Mini, Akhil, Kevin and Ann; Suji and Aney, Aju and Arun; his uncle John Philip and wife Mary; his in-laws Koshy and Moani, Shessy and Ray, Sherine, Tom and Deven.
Dr. Philip’s life was a life of service. As a cardiologist, he spent his career mending broken hearts and as a family man, he spent his spare time fixing the lives of those around him with his generosity, love and humor. His brilliance was only surpassed by his generosity and love of his family. He opened his heart and his home without question or an expectation of return.
His wife and his sons were a source of great joy and pride for him. He took his role as the husband and father seriously and lead by example.
To say he will miss is an understatement of great magnitude. We love you very much and our lives are better because of you.

The family has set up a memorial for Dr. Philip at the American Heart Association website. The Philip Children’s Scholarship Fund has also been established by South Texas Medical Clinics at NewFirst National Bank. Donations can be made in his honor to either fun.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. These shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
