Todd and Wendy Dunnam opened the Tin Star Ranch to give people another option in event venues. The 40-acre ranch in Inez is available for weddings, quinceaneras, corporate events and other special occasions.

A frustrating situation morphed into a business opportunity for one local couple.

Todd and Wendy Dunnam were planning their wedding and looking for a suitable facility but, after a long search, they just weren't having any luck.

"We went out of town and found nice things, but it was expensive," Wendy Dunnam said. "Here, things were booked."

So, they took matters into their own hands. The duo decided to temporarily forego the home they planned to build and develop their own event center.

After about two years, the Tin Star Ranch was born. The end result was a venue for weddings, quinceaneras, corporate events and the like.

The site, on more than 40 acres of land in Inez, boasts a large bridal suite and dressing rooms, two bars and patios and customizable stages, Wendy Dunnam said. It also features a full kitchen and can seat about 400 people inside the ballroom, with another 200 or so people outside.

Wedding coordinators and decor specialists are also available.

Although the center officially opened March 6, events and requests flowed in sooner, Wendy Dunnam said.

"We were busy in December, but we still had little things to finish," she said, citing the asphalt parking lot, rock entryway and other details.

The soggy weather the area saw during that time didn't help, Todd Dunnam said, with a laugh.

Ashley and Logan Lucke were married Dec. 19 and booked their reception at the Tin Star.

The location matched the wedding's classic yet Country-Western style, Ashley Lucke said, and it was nice that the venue did the decorating. They also appreciated the staff's work.

"Everything went smoothly," the Judson school district purchasing clerk said. "I was just very pleased."

The Dunnams aren't the only ones opening event centers in the region, but they said they aren't discouraged by the other. The area needs options, Wendy Dunnam said, and that's what it's getting.

"I think this is something people will appreciate," she said. "Something special."

  • My husband and I got married out at this ranch in October, and it was just awesome. Had to have been the best night of my life. The theme was just perfect. And not to mention that Wendy & Todd are just awesome people to work with.
