Lawrence "Buddy" and Hazel Waida, Sr. of Victoria celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on February 22, 2010. A family dinner was held to honor the couple.

Hazel Eva Hosek and Lawrence Herman Waida, Sr. were married Feb. 22, 1945, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Victoria. Father Etschenberg officiated the double ring ceremony.

The couple have five children: Larry and Terry Waida with children Wesley, Bradley, Calvin, and Monica; and Greg and Christie Waida with children Stuart, Carissa, and Megan; Debbie and Billy Yandell with children Nicole and Jason; Karen and Jim Jones; and Michelle and Phil Garoni with children Kyle, Kelsey and Karina. They have 15 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence owns and operated J.W. Marrs Lumber Company until his retirement. Hazel stayed at home to raise their family.
