30th annual Shiner FFA Livestock Show shows increase in auction sales total

SHINER - The 30th annual Shiner FFA Livestock Show topped $121,000 in total sales, surpassing last year's total by more than $15,000.

"I don't how it happened," said an excited Bruce Pohler, Shiner ag teacher. "I was in total shock. We are so grateful to the buyers who support these hard-working students."

The grand total of $121,788.58 included $16,760 in add-ons. Last year's show brought in $106,596.87.

Adrianne Boedeker's 1,145-pound grand champion steer paced the sale bringing in $6,240.25. It sold to Sage Capital Bank - Shiner branch.

Kaylyn Benes exhibited the grand champion hog, weighing 252 pounds. It sold for $3,780 to Spoetzl Brewery.

Haley Reynolds' grand champion 146-pound lamb sold for $2,482 to Shiner Animal Hospital, Oak Valley Ranch, Shiner Nursing & Rehab, Dusty and Dee Barker, Dr. Maurice Wilkinson and Dr. August Darilek and Ray and Sharon Hall.

Destiny Chumchal showed the grand champion pen of broilers. It sold for $3,000 to Kalina Tractor Repair, 4x4s of South Texas, Pizza Place, Stoney and Cindy Herchek, Harley's Restaurant, Harley's House of Liquor, Yoakum Pawn & Jewelry, Vic's Gun Shop, Salon Source - Ganado and La Ward Cellular.

The reserve champion steer, showed by Hannah Koenning, sold for $6,024.65 to Maeker's Processing, H-E-B Yoakum, Ronnie Chumchal Insurance Agency, Spoetzel Brewery - Shiner Beer, Lone Star Bank - Shiner and Lone Star Investment Professionals, Ranch Hand Truck Accessories & Kaspar Iron Works, Guadalupe Valley Veterinary Clinic, Chandler Drilling Service, American Legion Post 201, Shiner VFW Post 6209, Kelly Mudd Equipment Co., Tramer J. Woytek, Tiger Tote, Migl Feed & Grain, Stuart Fryer attorney-at-law, Gonzales Livestock Market, Leon and Joyce Svetik, Hallettsville Livestock, Paul and Delise Koone and an anonymous donor. The steer weighed 1,193 pounds.

Meloni Berger had the reserve champion hog, a 223-pounder. It sold for $3,342.77 to Maeker's Processing, H-E-B Yoakum, Ronnie Chumchal Insurance Agency, Spoetzl Brewey - Shiner Beer, Lone Star Bank - Shiner and Lone Star Investment Professionals, Ranch Hand Truck Accessories & Kaspar Iron Works, Guadalupe Valley Veterinary Clinic, Chandler Drilling Service, American Legion Post 201, Shiner VFW Post 6209, Kelly Mudd Equipment Co., Tramer J. Woytek, Tiger Tote, Migl Feed & Grain, Stuart Fryer attorney-at-law, Gonzales Livestock Market, Leon and Joyce Svetlik, Hallettsville Livestock, Paul and Delise Koone and an anonymous donor.

Kim Patek's 131-pound reserve champion lamb sold for $2,225.69 to Boedeker Precision, Jaeger's Inc., Lawrence Gerum, Ray and Mary Michalec, James and Gladys Muehlstein, Shawn Meinkowsky and Klosik Financial.

Ashley Shimek's reserve champion pen of broilers sold for $2,999.99 to Wendel Motor Co., First State Bank - Yoakum, Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, Wood's Body & Fender Shop, Jake Kram Insurance, Yoakum National Bank, Fikac Distributing, Heiman Exxon, 10th Inning, Ed Beal, DDS, Boedeker Ag Supply, Allen Bayer, CPA, Don and Gina Valis, Harold and Lisa Koenning, Reg and Amy Othold, Kenny and Robbie Caka, The Bunch, Faulkner's Cleaners, Lavaca County Propane, Jack and Linda Wooley, Pokluda Construction and Mike Pokluda.
