ELVIS came to the Weesatche Dance Hall & Café on Saturday night, Feb. 13, 2010, to help celebrate Jerry and Betty Sharp's 50th wedding anniversary. Over 300 family members and guests were also there to help celebrate the fun filled evening of dancing and entertainment.
Betty Sralla of Alice and Jerry Sharp of Beeville married on Feb. 13, 1960, in Alice. Parents were Frank and Evelyn Sralla and Edward (Chauncy) and Gladys Borchers Sharp Jones. After living in Corpus Christi for approximately 45 years, they are enjoying retirement at their ranch in the Weesatche community.
Tributes were given by sons Kevin Sharp and Jerry Sharp, Jr. (Jay).
Family sharing the fun and excitement were Kevin and Lilly Sharp of Corpus Christi, Kevin Sharp, Jr. and fiancée Lacey Wright of Oklahoma City, Kimberly Sharp and husband Miguel Guzman and children Emma and Makai of Austin, and Jay and sons Taylor and Ryan of Wasilla, Ala. Sister, brother, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the matriarch of the family, Aunt Esther Stewart, and many friends, made the evening memorable. Cousins Gerd and Hakan Bentgsson from Grums, Sweden, came for the festivities.
Music was provided by International Singing Star Vickie Cross of Weesatche, followed by Special Guest ELVIS, and closed by the Whiskey River Band from Yoakum.
McMillian Catering from Fannin provided a hors d'oeuvre table and served a steak dinner with all the trimmings. Traditional tiered cakes were provided by Lilly Sharp.
From young to not-so-young, two months to 99 years old, family and friends traveled far and wide to attend. They came from Sweden, Alaska and all around Texas and Oklahoma.
We are so thankful for our family and friends! We had the time of our life.
